Principal Building Control Surveyor
Job description
Ipswich is the largest centre in Suffolk for business, culture, entertainment and sports, with a rich history and heritage and has a thriving Waterfront. Ipswich is one of the fastest growing regional centres in England, where there are thousands of homes and jobs planned for the area together with the continued redevelopment of the historic town centre and
Waterfront.
We are looking for a professionally qualified and experienced Principal Building Control Surveyor who is enthusiastic, motivated and can also provide management support to our building control service.
Main purpose of role
You will take on the role as a lead professional for the Council's Building Control service and ensure, under the direction of the Building Control Operations Manager, the efficient day to day management of the building control team, which deals with a full range of functions, including application processing, public safety and enforcement.
The Council is working in partnership with the East Suffolk Council in delivering its building control service, thereby offering a wide range of opportunities to be involved in with a broad scope of challenging and exciting projects. You will support this work and be a technical expert for Ipswich on building control matters, which should ideally include experience of high rise and complex buildings. You will be supported by an experienced, dedicated and passionate team who are all committed to providing the very highest standards of customer service.
About you
You will hold a recognised qualification in Building Control and full membership of RICS or CABE. You will ideally be qualified to LABC Level 6 Fire Safety competency qualification or be in the process of gaining this accreditation. Most importantly will be your drive to embrace the opportunity and fulfil your potential working at Ipswich as part of an exciting and ambitious partnership.
