An exciting opportunity has become available to become an invaluable part of the Sport and Leisure Service. The successful candidate will be crucial in ensuring an excellent sport and fitness programme is delivered across all our Centres. This role will have a particular focus on ensuring our activities improve the lives of local people through an effective and varied programme.
This role is a diverse and exciting where every day is different and you are able to influence and lead some exciting, innovative projects that will help us to run an exceptional service. You will have a particular influence over our continued recovery from the Pandemic and how we adapt our delivery models to ensure our services are accessible and easy to access.
Our swimming lesson programme currently consists of 140 lessons a week and a fitness and sports programme of 90+ activities a week, making it one of the largest programmes in the region. We also work closely with local communities and support outreach programmes that enable the people of Ipswich to get more active.
The role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the swimming lesson programme, the sports and fitness programme as well as ensuring that key service improvement initiatives are delivered. The role also oversees the extensive holiday programme across the sports centres, pools and in the community. The role also works closely with the Centre Managers to advise and support them in shaping the centre’s programming.
Day to day
You will be based across all our sports centres and swimming pools and you will be responsible for two Swimming Team Leaders and a Sports and Fitness Team Leader. You will ensure the programmes across our sites run smoothly and will continually add value to shape and develop the programme to increase income.
About you
We are looking for an exceptional talent that is organised, imaginative and development minded with commercial experience in delivering and growing swimming and fitness programmes. The right candidate needs to be able to work as part of a wider team and be good at building relationships. You may also be expected to cover activities at short notice to ensure service continuity.
Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday, as required by the service. Some evening and weekend work will be required of this role as the service requires.
DBS clearance is required for this role.

The selection process will be a presentation followed by assessment interview. Interviews will be held between 22 – 26 August 2022.
The assessment interview process will be carried out remotely via Skype for Business, Microsoft teams or in person.
